PREVIEW | PSG v Troyes: Another attacking spectacle for the leaders?

As their attacking trident combined time and time again to dismantle Maccabi Haifa in midweek, Paris Saint-Germain once again looked like the all-conquering and prolific team that raced to the Ligue 1 lead at the start of the season.

With off-field issues plaguing the club for the last month or so – notably reports Kylian Mbappé wants to leave just months into an ostensibly eye-watering contract – PSG also somewhat lost their way on the pitch. Three straight draws and a tedious but hard-fought Classique win over Marseille led many to believe that the Christophe Galtier effect was beginning to wear off.

But a combined ten goals across last week, spurred on by a change in formation to a four-man backline and three-man defence – now has the defending champions firing on all cylinders again. Galtier will have everyone but Danilo Pereira at his disposal, with Presnel Kimpembe having made his return on Tuesday after a month and a half spell out from a hamstring injury. Nuno Mendes should recover his place from Juan Bernat on the left-hand side, while Hugo Ekitike could be in line for a start to offer Kylian Mbappé some rest.

Bruno Irles’ Troyes side has recovered from losing three kick off the campaign and notably claimed a major scalp with a 4-2 win in Monaco. Their leaky defence, though – conceding exactly two goals a game – are unlikely to be at ease against an in-form Lionel Messi-Neymar-Kylian Mbappé frontline. They did manage to claim a draw at the Parc des Princes last season, though, and their attacking outlets could cause one or two problems to a PSG defence that’s looked shaky of late. One to look out for is forward Mama Baldé, who has five goals and three assists this campaign.
