Watford make Ismaila Sarr breakthrough

L’Équipe report that Premier League side Watford have made a breakthrough in their efforts to sign Senegalese international winger Ismaila Sarr.

The 21-year-old is set to join the Hornets for €30m plus €5m in bonuses. The Pozzo family are understood to have beaten Rennes President Létang in negotiations, with the latter having held out for €40m, before dropping to €37m, before accepting the deal on offer.

Watford are yet to finalise personal terms with the player, but have offered him a 5-year contract.

West Ham United and Napoli were also in the hunt for the player, with the Italian club making an enquiry to Rennes when they missed out on Nicolas Pépé before not proceeding any further.
