Spanish contacts for Nabil Fékir

L’Équipe report that Valencia have made their interest in Lyon captain Nabil Fékir known.

The 25-year-old is persistent in his desire to quit OL this summer, despite President Aulas and Sporting Director Juninho’s efforts to convince him to stay and reconvert into a deeper-lying midfield role owing to a lack of existing offers.

He has had proposals from China, which he has pushed aside, and Arsenal have made their interest known but have been clear that they won’t make a move unless they sell players in the attacking sector, notably Mesut Özil.

The player held a meeting with Pini Zahavi in recent months to try to firm up Chelsea’s interest in his services, but following their recruitment ban, the French international has cozied up to another super-agent: Jorge Mendes.

Mendes is seeking to come up with some Spanish solutions for the Frenchman, with both Sevilla and Real Betis having examined the possibility of signing the Lyonnais player.

However, most significantly, a 3rd Spanish side, who can offer Champions’ League football unlike the other two, Valencia, have made initial approaches and could accelerate talks imminently.

However, we are not at a stage where any of these three Spanish sides have opened formal talks to sign Fékir, nor contact Lyon.

If Fékir goes, OL will dip into the market once again for another midfielder.
