Luis Fernandez has been appointed the Sporting Director of the Paris Saint-Germain Youth Academy.
The former PSG midfielder will have the task of developing the youth at the club and convincing youngsters in the city and the country to join up with the club. PSG have been looking to use more of their youth academy, and this appointment shows how important they see youth for the future.
Fernandez is considering a legend at Paris Saint-Germain, captaining the side when they won their first Ligue 1 title in 1985-86, as well as coaching the club to the 1996 Cup Winners Cup. Fernandez also was apart of the France team in 1984, alongside the great Michel Platini, that won the European Championships.
With Fernandez and club Sporting Director Antero Henrique working close together, we could see more youth players around Unai Emery’s squad in years to come, joining the likes of Presnel Kimpembe and Adrien Rabiot.
