This past week on WWE RAW, former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre cut his first promo since returning to the main roster as a part of the recent Superstar Shakeup. The former “Chosen One” has now aligned himself with a fellow long-time veteran in Dolph Ziggler, and definitely didn’t hold back when revealing his thoughts on the current state of the WWE locker room.
WWE Hall of Famer Edge had high praise for the promo segment, putting over McIntyre big time on the latest edition of his podcast, the E&C Pod of Awesomeness.
“I want to give a shoutout to Drew McIntyre for his promo this week. I was able to catch it, and I went ‘God damn that’s exactly what he needs to be doing.’ You could tell that he felt everything that he was saying. He believed everything that he was saying.
There was full commitment on his part there, and man, that promo to me I was like, ‘there’s the guy right there’. That’s exactly what he needs to be doing, and if he keeps doing that, the world’s his oyster. Short, sweet, he said everything he needed to say in like a minute.”
The “Rated R Superstar” was actually a recent guest at the WWE Performance Center, dropping in on one of Shawn Michaels’ classes to talk about the importance of wrestlers fulling committing to their character while competing in the ring, and the art of speaking from the heart when it comes to cutting a promo.
