Backstage News on When Brock Lesnar Will Defend the WWE Universal Title Next

It’s been a rather unpredictable year concerning Brock Lesnar and the WWE Universal Championship.

While most assumed the “Beast Incarnate” would drop the title to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34, shortly before his contract expired, he ended up signing a brand new deal (reported to be a limited time solution only ) and surprisingly retained the title in back-to-back bouts with Reigns. Neither the title or its holder have been seen since the Greatest Royal Rumble.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar is not scheduled for WWE Extreme Rules on July 15th in Pittsburgh. Right now the current plan is for him to main event SummerSlam on August 19th in Brooklyn, which means it’s very likely we have at least six more weeks of WWE television without the Universal Championship on Monday Night Raw.

This has been reported on before, but if Lesnar plans to return to UFC before the end of the year, he has until June 30th at the very latest to re-enter the USADA testing pool, as he must test clean for a full six months before being allowed to compete in the octagon again.
