Breaking News: USA Network Reportedly Dropping Smackdown After NBCU Offers Massive Deal For WWE RAW

According to a new report from Matthew Belloni of the Hollywood Reporter, NBC Universal has offered WWE a substantial offer to renew their deal for USA Network’s flagship show, Monday Night Raw.

The money on the table is said to be somewhere in the neighborhood of three times the show’s current value, but the catch is that in order to pull it off they reportedly won’t be signing a new deal for Smackdown Live, leaving the Blue Brand up for a potential bidding war among competing networks for the first time since 2010.

As previously reported, Fox is expected to make a major play for WWE content when the current deal with NBCU expires, but it will be interesting to see how things play out as originally the network wanted exclusive rights for both Raw and Smackdown Live. The promotion made roughly $180 million last year from its television rights deal alone.
