Since returning for its long-awaited third season earlier this month, DC Universe’s Young Justice has already featured an array of beloved characters from across the DC Comics multiverse – but one major player has been conspicuously absent throughout the show’s run: Cyborg, aka Victor Stone. Luckily, IGN can exclusively reveal that the fan-favorite character will finally make his debut in this Friday’s upcoming batch of episodes, which will mark Young Justice: Outsiders’ midseason finale.
Having been a member of the Teen Titans and the Justice League in various iterations of the comics, Cyborg has a storied history, but Young Justice will take us back to his origins, as you can see in our exclusive sneak peek video.
Cyborg is voiced by Zeno Robinson (Lego Star Wars: All Stars, Big City Greens), while his father, Silas Stone, is voiced by the multi-talented Khary Payton, who also provides VO for Kaldur (formerly Aqualad, now promoted to Aquaman) and Black Lightning on the series.
We’ve also got an exclusive first look at Cyborg’s character design – check it out below:
Cyborg’s introduction shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans who’ve been paying attention to Outsiders – in last week’s trio of episodes, Cyborg was namedropped in “Evolution” while the team was enjoying some beach time, with DC’s resident sportscaster Steve Lombard calling Henry Heywood High School’s wide receiver Victor Stone “a touchdown machine,” and one of his picks for the “National High School All-Star Squadron” this year, just to squeeze as many references as possible into one line.
In the following episode, “Triptych,” Victor’s father, Dr. Silas Stone, is mentioned in reference to a mysterious Reach device, which is being delivered to him at STAR Labs Detroit for further examination.
Cyborg will make his debut in episode 11, “Another Freak,” one of four episodes dropping on Friday, Jan. 25 as part of the midseason finale. New episodes of Young Justice: Outsiders will resume in June following the freshman season of Doom Patrol (which also features Cyborg) on the DC Universe subscription service.
