WWE’s residency at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida began with last night’s SummerSlam go-home edition of SmackDown.

Vince McMahon kicked off the WWE ThunderDome until being interrupted by “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. After Braun Strowman made his way out to the ring, Strowman and The Fiend were surrounded by RETRIBUTION. The Fiend disappeared and left Strowman to fight RETRIBUTION on his own. The SmackDown locker room then came out to help him, but Strowman snapped and laid out Drew Gulak and Jey Uso after RETRIBUTION retreated.

Later in the show, Strowman invaded Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House. He brawled with Wyatt and slammed him off a ledge backstage and onto concrete. Wyatt was loaded into an ambulance, but the show ended with the ambulance reversing and The Fiend emerging.

A Beat the Clock Challenge on last night’s episode decided the order for the Women’s title matches at SummerSlam.

A change was made to Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville’s match at Sunday’s pay-per-view. Instead of hair vs. hair, it will now be a no DQ, loser leaves WWE match.

The Intercontinental title changed hands last night. Jeff Hardy defeated AJ Styles to win the title, with the finish playing into a show-long storyline where Styles injured Hardy during the brawl with Retribution. Hardy kicked Styles in the face with his knee brace and then hit the Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb to get the win.
