It’s being reported that WWE may be implementing some major changes to the ECW brand. More specifically, ECW may be done away with altogether early next year.
WWE officials have had discussions with Syfy concerning the future of the third-tier brand as both sides feel “ECW” has run its course. Plans are already underway to overhaul WWE’s Tuesday night program as a few ideas have been pitched including a magazine-style recap show and the more likely option, a rebranding.
Syfy officials have been unhappy with the show’s ratings for months and they feel its identity is to blame. Hence, WWE will likely drop the “ECW” letters, instead giving it an all-new name. The show’s concept is expected to remain the same; a vehicle showcasing the company’s young up-and-coming talent. The 10:00 p.m. timeslot on Tuesday night is also expected to stay put.
More details concerning WWE’s plans for Tuesday nights will be revealed in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
