Why Sami Zayn Wasn’t at Greatest Royal Rumble, Strowman/Jarrett

The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia featured just about every single male roster member in WWE. Superstars from Raw, Smackdown, 205 Live, and event NXT were present on the show yesterday. This has made the sudden absence of Raw Superstar Sami Zayn even more notable. Despite the fact that his best friend, Kevin Owens, and his rival, Shane McMahon, fought in the 50-man Royal Rumble match in the main event of the show, Zayn was noticeably nowhere to be found anywhere on the entire show. Fortunately, a few details on why Sami Zayn did not partake in any of the matches on yesterday’s huge WWE pay-per-view have just been revealed.
Sami Zayn did not compete at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia yesterday, and it appears that he was purposefully left off of the show. WrestlingNews.co originally reported that Zayn opted to miss the event and was granted the opportunity to do so by WWE. However, Pro Wrestling Sheet later confirmed that the decision for Zayn to miss the show was not made by his own request. Zayn, who is of Syrian descent, was reportedly left off of the show by WWE in order to respect the wishes of Saudi Arabia. Both nations have a strained relationship with each other at the moment. Zayn should be back competing on the road with the rest of the Raw roster once they return to the United States.
One of the most bizarre stories from last year came when it was reported that Jeff Jarrett’s wife Karen and Raw Superstar Braun Strowman had a public incident in a bar. The original reports claimed that Karen spotted Strowman in a bar in Nashville and attempted to get him to sign an autograph for her child. Strowman apparently did not recognize her and refused to sign the autograph, leading to Strowman reportedly getting on his knees and begging for forgiveness as soon as he found out who she was and about her previous relationship with Kurt Angle. The two now appear to have buried the hatchet as Jarrett recently shared a photo of the themselves posing together for a photo during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony earlier this month.
