As we have been reporting over the course of the past week, WWE star Matt Hardy might be winding down his in-ring career as he deals with an ongoing lower back and pelvic injury.
While Hardy’s exact future remains up in the air as of this writing, WWE has been grooming Hardy for a possible backstage role in the company should the former WWE Tag Team Champion decide to call it quits on his in-ring career. Hardy was working in a backstage capacity at WWE SummerSlam on Sunday, and PWInsider.com reports Hardy was once again backstage at Raw this week working in the same capacity.
In addition to Hardy, PWInsider reports injured WWE star Jason Jordan was backstage at Raw this week, and he too was present at WWE production meetings in order to learn the backstage aspects of how WWE runs its TV tapings. Jordan suffered a neck injury which required surgery at the beginning of this year, and the injury turned out to be much worse than originally expected, placing Jordan’s in-ring future in serious question.
In related news, Matt Hardy’s wife Reby Hardy appeared on Busted Open Radio during SummerSlam weekend and confirmed that Hardy is in a “transitional” period of his career right now, and is unsure if he will be returning to the ring, or embarking on a new career path in or outside of WWE.
