Close to a thousand people have died in Tamil Nadu in road accidents in the month of January. Yes, you read it right. According to the data of the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB), a total of 993 people died in 5, 173 accident in January in January and over 70 percent of the accidents had taken place on the national and state highways.

In another gory fact, the deaths on the corresponding period last year were 1, 189 deaths, out of which 360 deaths took place in national highways whereas 332 people died in accidents that occurred on the state highways.
