RB Leipzig confident that they have taken Tanguy Kouassi from PSG

Le Parisien report that German side RB Leipzig are confident that they have convinced 17-year-old French central defender Tanguy Kouassi to sign a professional contract with them, snapping him up and way from PSG in the process.

The France U19 international has also been in discussions with Manchester City, but it is believed that Kouassi agreed to join Leipzig already weeks ago, with German sources stating that the player was in Leipzig in recent days to visit the club’s facilities.

The project Kouassi has been sold is one of rapid rate towards regular playing time and his arrival will ensure that Dayot Upamecano is allowed to leave the club at the end of this season. Upamecano was notably the subject of a charm offensive from Arsenal this summer.

RB Leipzig appear to be strongly hinting to Kouassi that he will be Upamecano’s successor, with the 17-year-old expected to sign a contract that is either 5 or 6 years long. It is a difficult prospect to say no to.
