Was Sunday night the first chapter of a story that concludes with the in-ring return of a WWE Hall Of Famer at WrestleMania 35?
That is the speculation making the rounds in the internet wrestling community following the angle shot at the WWE Fastlane 2019 pay-per-view on Sunday evening that saw WWE Hall Of Famer Beth Phoenix get attacked.
“The Glamazon” was on hand to appear as a guest commentator for the WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championship bout between The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection (Sasha Banks & Bayley) and The Samoan Slaughterhouse (Nia Jax & Tamina). After the match, which saw Banks and Bayley retain the titles, Jax and Tamina began a beatdown of the champions.
This led to Tamina and Phoenix having words at ringside, which was followed up by Jax attacking the guest commentator from behind. Another beatdown ensued until Phoenix’s friend and former Diva Of Doom partner Natalya ran-in to make the save. Unfortunately for Nattie, it wasn’t long before she too was the victim of a beatdown from The Samoan Slaughterhouse.
Following the segment, rumors began making the rounds that this was the beginning of a storyline that will lead to a tag-team match at WrestleMania 35 between The Divas Of Doom (Beth Phoenix & Natalya) and The Samoan Slaughterhouse (Nia Jax & Tamina).
Of course, this has yet to be officially announced, so it should be taken strictly as a rumor until otherwise reported.
