Speaking ahead of his Paris Saint-Germain side’s trip to Rennes tomorrow afternoon, Mauricio Pochettino notably gave an update on defender Sergio Ramos’ progressive return from a calf injury, which has thus far delayed the Spaniard’s debut for the club.
His words transcribed by RMC Sport, the Argentine also discussed the impressives starts to the season midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera have had, including in front of goal.
“There isn’t a precise date for his return. He’s working, things are progressing on a daily basis, we’ll see when the time is right. He’s still working.”
“Players who are injured don’t necessarily have the same hours as the others. He doesn’t take part in collective training sessions. But I have no doubts on his integration – he was captain of Real Madrid, he has everything to succeed.”
“Our idea is to have precise positions in the opposition half, we want our midfielders to arrive in the box to help the team. Gueye and Herrera have been with us since the first day of pre-season. They have an important role in the team, and that includes the offensive side of things.”
