Man Wanted For Questioning In Subway Rice Cooker Scare

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — Police want to question a man in connection with the Friday morning rice cooker scare that cleared out Manhattan’s Fulton Street subway station.

The NYPD released a photo of a man who police say was seen inside the Financial District transit hub with a shopping cart and one of the suspicious devices.

Cops found two rice cookers at the station and a third identical one in Chelsea that may be related, police officials said.

The man has dark curly hair and was seen wearing a blue T-shirt. He also appears to have a tattoo on his right arm. Anyone with information about him can call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477 or 1-888-577-4782 to leave a tip in Spanish.

John Miller, the NYPD’s deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism, described the man as a person of interest and said his intentions were unclear.

“It is possible that somebody put out a bunch of items in the trash today and this guy picked them up and then discarded them, or it’s possible that this was an intentional act,” Miller said at a news conference.
