Kylian Mbappe a major doubt for Bayern Munich Champions League tie after “worrying” tests on thigh strain

PSG striker Kylian Mbappe (24) is a major doubt for Les Parisiens’ Champions League round of 16 first tie against Bayern Munich, according to a report from L’Equipe. The free-scoring Frenchman was injured after clashing with Montpellier’s Leo Leroy and was substituted on Wednesday evening after just twenty minutes of play. Mbappe passed “worrying” medical exams this Thursday morning and is suffering from a thigh strain. The outlet adds that this kind of injury takes up to three weeks to heal completely. More exams will take place in the following days.

With the Bayern Munich Champions League clash at Parc des Princes set on February 14th, Mbappe is set for a race against time to feature against the Bavarians. PSG won’t be without their striker for the start of what would be a pivotal and season-defining month for the Christophe Galtier-led side. He will miss this weekend’s Ligue 1 clash against Toulouse as well as a mouth-watering Coupe de France round of 16 against arch-rivals Marseille next Wednesday. He will most likely won’t be fit enough to feature against a resurgent Monaco side on February 11th for another high-stakes game for Les Parisiens. Forward Hugo Ekitike is set to start PSG’s next features with Mbappe on the sidelines.
