LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Denison University head coach Tiffany Ozbun was the grand-prize winner in the NFCA’s second annual “Power of One” membership drive, which sought to grow the Association by asking each member to get one new person to join before the 2017 NFCA National Convention at Bally’s Las Vegas.
Ozbun’s name was drawn from the received referrals at the Softball Sum- mit on Dec. 8 at the NFCA National Convention. As the winner, she had her choice of one item from a list of six spectacular prizes. Ozbun chose two all-session tickets to the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
The other available choices for the winner this year were a free trip (travel expenses, hotel and registration) to the 2018 NFCA Convention in Chicago; registration to all eight 2018-19 NFCA Coaches Clinics; a “Best of Softball” equipment package (balls, bats, nets, tees, etc.); a “Best of Soft- ball” educational package (Coaching Bible Volumes 1 & 2, Practice Perfect Softball, a 2017 NFCA Convention full-package digital download and one complimentary NFCC course registration); or a lifetime NFCA membership.
“The ONE membership drive helped raise NFCA awareness by ask- ing current members to invite new members,” NFCA Executive Director Carol Bruggeman said. “We want to make sure all fastpitch coaches are aware of the amazing NFCA benefits. We appreciate our members who stepped up and helped grow our membership base.”
Each time a member got another person to join the NFCA before the Dec. 1 deadline, that referring member received another entry into the contest. There was no limit on the amount of entries an individual could have.
During the contest period, the NFCA also selected several random biweekly winners for a special prize pack of Association merchandise. There were 194 referrals this year.
