Conor McGregor signs contract to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 257

Even after Dana White said in late-October that the fight was official, there were still some questions as neither Conor McGregor or Dustin Poirier had yet to sign their bout agreement.

That worry is now gone as the former two division UFC champion officially put pen to paper after Poirier signed last week, making their January 23rd lightweight main event at UFC 257 official, according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

The location has yet to be announced, but White told ESPN last week that it will be at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi if everything works out as they hope. As of this writing, UFC has yet to officially announce the fight or event but very well could this weekend with the UFC 255 pay-per-view set for Saturday.

The two fought in September 2014 at UFC 178 with McGregor winning by first round TKO while both were at featherweight. McGregor last fought in January with a quick knockout win over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone while Poirier is coming off a fight of the year candidate with Dan Hooker in June, a bout he won by decision.
