Big Show Injury Update, Hoping To Be Cleared By This Week

According to ESPN, The Big Show, who has been out of action since September of last year, is hoping to be re-evaluated by WWE doctors this week in order to be cleared to return to in-ring action. Big Show also told ESPN at a recent charity event at The Hackensack Meridian Health Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey that he hopes to be back in the ring as early as SummerSlam this Sunday. Show added that he could also technically be ready to go by this coming Monday’s RAW, but cautioned that just because he is healthy and cleared doesn’t mean that he will be on TV as that would ultimately depend on creative plans. You can check out below what Big Show said:

“Hopefully within the next couple of weeks, I will be back in the ring, That’s the main goal. I’m actually going to try and get cleared Sunday, by [WWE’s] doctors; moving around the ring a little bit. I could be back as soon as the Monday Night RAW after SummerSlam, if they have something for me. Just because I’m healthy, doesn’t mean our creative team is healthy for me yet.”

The Big Show underwent a hip resurfacing surgery – a procedure that serves as an alternative to a total hip replacement – in which a doctor inserts a hollow, mushroom-shaped metal cap over the femur and connects it to the pelvis socket. He revealed that he had been dealing with hip pain for a “number of years” before going under the knife last fall.

It was previously reported that Big Show was recovering well from that surgery but experienced complications including a post-surgical infection that led to a slower recovery and ended up causing him to miss The Greatest Royal Rumble Event in April. The former WWE Champion hasn’t wrestled since losing a Steel Cage Match against Braun Strowman in September of 2017. The match was designed to write Big Show off of television to undergo right hip surgery.
In any case, Big Show appears eager to return to the ring and has gone back on previous statements he made suggesting that he wanted to retire from in-ring competition after his contract expired. Big Show has also said that he is now more competitive than ever and is in the best shape of his life.
