Speaking exclusively to our colleagues at RMC, one of three alleged principal actors in the blackmail of Mathieu Valbuena using a sextape, Younes Houass, has denied that he ever asked the French international attacking midfielder for money.

If Younes Houass is found guilty of blackmail and extortion, he risks facing five years in prison.

In June 2015, Houass is one of the first individuals to contact Mathieu Valbuena about the sextape. He explains how that initial discussion went:

“Our exchange lasted about 10 minutes. I spoke to someone who was not aware of the events that had taken place, who did not realise what was going on. We discussed. I gave him “advice”. I spoke to him about getting someone involved because he was surrounded by mist.”

Following that meeting, Valbuena went to the authorities, and the next relevant contact that Houass had was with an undercover policeman, Lucas, who was pretending to be the person that Mathieu Valbuena had “got involved” to deal with the unfolding situation.

“I never asked for money, at any point during this whole business. Besides, it does not arise. I do not ask for it. At one point, I even said that I was stopping in this entire business because it was pointless. But the policeman asks me to stay in the loop and made a proposal to me worth €18,000. At that moment, my answer is very clear: I say no.”

Houass insists that he was not involved in any wrongdoing.
