WWE SmackDown draws best overnight ratings in two months

Despite ongoing coverage of the presidential election, last night’s SmackDown saw its overnight viewership increase 3.6 percent over last week, averaging 2.209 million viewers on Fox.

It was the largest overnight number for the show since September 11.

In the 18-34 demo, SmackDown averaged a 0.4 rating, matching its highest number since March 20. SmackDown was the highest rated show among all network television last night in the 18-34 demo and was up 33.3 percent from last week.

SmackDown also topped the networks in the 18-49 demo with a 0.65 rating. That’s the best overnight number for the show since March 27 and up 8.3 percent from last week.

The opening hour averaged 2.312 million viewers with hour two dropping significantly to 2.106 million. SmackDown’s numbers usually hold up much better than this, but the show may have been affected by election-related specials that led into Joe Biden addressing the nation later in the night.

The last few weeks, SmackDown’s overnight number has been lower than what the final number ends up being, so we’ll see if that continues with the final viewership and ratings number this week.

Looking at the year-over-year numbers, SmackDown was down 15.6 percent in overnight viewership, 33.3 percent in the 18-34 demo, and 23.5 percent in 18-49.

Here’s a look at the last 10 weeks of overnight viewership as well as key ratings demo numbers for SmackDown:
