Next Wednesday’s anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite will feature three title matches.
In the already announced main event, World Champion Jon Moxley will defend against Lance Archer. Both men did taped promos on Wednesday which means the company is confident Archer will be free of COVID-19 by next week. Archer recently revealed a positive test but didn’t give any indication he would miss the match.
Two title matches were made on Wednesday’s Dynamite including Tag Team Champions FTR vs. no. 1 contenders Best Friends under traditional rules. This will be the Friends’ second opportunity at the gold with their first being a loss to then-champions Kenny Omega and Hangman Page in July.
The other title match is new TNT Champion Cody defending against Orange Cassidy. Cody pinned Mr. Brodie Lee to regain the belt Wednesday in a dog collar match and said afterward that he wanted to defend the title next week. Cassidy came out and Cody gave the thumbs up to accept the unspoken challenge. This will be Cassidy’s second opportunity at the TNT title as he was unsuccessful in defeating then-champion Lee in his first shot.
Also scheduled for next week, Miro and Kip Sabian will be in tag team action and MJF is promising he will make “a career defining announcement.”
The show will be a celebration of one year of Dynamite, the weekly TNT show that kicked off last October.
