WWE posts storyline updates on Adam Cole & Velveteen Dream

Following TakeOver 31 and going into tonight’s episode of NXT, WWE has announced storyline injury updates on both Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream.

TakeOver 31 ended with an angle where it was revealed that Cole had been attacked. After Finn Balor retained his NXT Championship against Kyle O’Reilly in the main event, Balor and O’Reilly shook hands and were holding each other’s arm up as the show was about to go off the air. But Ridge Holland was then shown carrying a laid out Cole over his shoulder. He dumped Cole over the barricade and walked away.

O’Reilly checked on Cole and Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish came out to check on him too. They asked where Holland went, called for medical attention, and Strong and Fish questioned Balor about what happened.

In their storyline update on his condition, WWE wrote that Cole “suffered broken ribs and contusions due to an apparent attack suffered at the hands of powerful newcomer Ridge Holland. Holland dropped Cole’s limp body at ringside following the conclusion of the NXT Championship main event between Finn Bálor and Kyle O’Reilly, prompting his fellow Undisputed ERA members to call for immediate medical attention.”

Kushida submitted Velveteen Dream with the Hoverboard Lock at TakeOver 31. He displayed his new vicious demeanor, attacking Dream before the match and after it was over. WWE’s storyline update on Dream said that he “suffered a fractured wrist after facing Kushida at TakeOver 31. Kushida forced Dream to submit to the Hoverboard Lock and then continued the onslaught after the bell, armbarring Dream until officials interjected. Despite the injury, Dream is medically cleared as tolerated.”

Ember Moon will kick off tonight’s episode of NXT after making her return at TakeOver. Kushida vs. Tommaso Ciampa will be the first match on tonight’s show. WWE will also give updates on Balor and O’Reilly after their match at TakeOver.
