Update: Here’s What Overwatch’s Baptiste Can Do

Update February 26, 2019, 11:49 a.m.: Blizzard has announced more details about the latest Overwatch hero, Baptiste, and his abilities.

According to the most recent Patch Notes, Baptiste has the following abilities:

  • Biotic Launcher: Fires a three-round burst that rewards accuracy and recoil control with significant damage output.
  • Alternate Fire: Throws grenades that heal allies near the point of impact.
  • Regenerative Burst: Activates an intense surge that heals Baptiste and his allies over time.
  • Immortality Field: Baptiste can create an immortality field that prevents him and his allies from dying.
  • Exo Boots: A passive ability, the Exo Boots allow Baptiste to jump over obstacles.
  • Amplification Matrix: Baptiste’s ultimate ability allows him to deploy an Amplification Matrix that doubles the damage and healing effects of friendly projectiles.

In the post, Blizzard described Baptiste as “a battle-hardened combat medic who wields an assortment of experimental devices and weaponry to keep allies alive and eliminate his enemies.” He is currently available on the PTR for testing.

The latest hero added to Blizzard’s Overwatch roster, Baptiste, has been revealed.

The official Play Overwatch YouTube account has uploaded a new origin story video giving us some insight into the upcoming hero, Baptiste.  It shows the hero growing up in a wartorn country describing tough choices that had to be made to survive.

The armour worn by Baptiste in the origin story has a Talon logo, which happens to represent the terrorist organisation also connected to other heroes such as Reaper and Doomfist.

It seems Baptiste will be a mix of a DPS and healer character touting that he will use both bandages and bullets. The trailer finishes by saying that it’s your choice as to which.
