Barely an hour after giving birth in a civic hospital on Sunday, a 23-year-old walked off straight to her voting booth to exercise her franchise in Haryana’s Kaithal district.

Manisha Rani was accompanied by a staff nurse from the hospital, her husband Pawan Kumar and her newborn son to the polling booth, about 1.25km away from the hospital.

The staff nurse, Sunitha, said both the mother and the child were healthy after delivery and so Manisha was granted permission to travel and cast her vote.
