Manchester City have had two formal offers for Benjamin Mendy turned down in the space of 48 hours

Premier League side Manchester City have made their first two formal offers for AS Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy in the last 48 hours, worth €40m (made on Wednesday) and €45m (made yesterday) respectively and both were turned down, according to L’Équipe.

City had previously believed to have made a series of verbal offers, which were also turned down. The Citizens will make an improved, third formal offer imminently. Benjamin Mendy has informed Monaco once again at the start of the week of his desire to join Pep Guardiola in England, having already agreed personal terms with the club.

AS Monaco Vice President Vadim Vasilyev remains strong in the face of an assault from Europe’s elite for his player. Make an exceptional offer, or go away.

Guardiola is keeping tabs on the situation minute by minute, and wants the player to be part of City’s tour of the USA.

Mendy meanwhile did not travel with the Monaco squad to Switzerland yesterday, officially because of a thigh injury.
