LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Palomar College led the way with three honorees with Feather River College, El Camino College and College of San Mateo each earning two selections as the NFCA announced the 2018 Cal JC All-America teams on Monday afternoon.

Cal JC All-Americans

Cabrillo College’s Michaela Decker was tabbed the 2018 Diamond Sports / NFCA Catcher of the Year and American River College’s Kayla Grubert was selected as the New Balance / NFCA Golden Shoe recipient as Cal JC’s top base stealer.

In the South Region, Palomar and El Camino received multiple honors, while Feather River and San Mateo paced the North Region. Sydney McCollum of Cypress College is the only repeat All-American out of the 20 honorees.

Pitcher Alicia Garcia, outfielder Sarah Fisher and Utility selection Crystal Moore-DesLauriers keyed No. 8 Palomar to a 36-3 overall mark and 16-0 in Pacific Coast Conference play and a berth into the South Region Super Regionals. Garcia, the State and PCC Pitcher of the Year, is 23-0 with a CCCAA-best 0.65 ERA, nine shutouts and 155 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .162 batting average. Fisher leads the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) with a .569 batting average and 74 hits. She ranks second in runs scored (57) and fourth with 14 home runs and 63 RBI. Moore-DesLauriers, who splits her time in the infield and the circle, is hitting .440 with 14 doubles, 31 RBI, 31 runs scored and a.660 slugging percentage. While toeing the rubber, she is 11-3 with a 1.78 ERA and 74 strikeouts.

Tenth-ranked El Camino is paced by catcher Ashley Machado and infielder Diamond Lewis. Machado is batting .333 with seven doubles a team-best six triples, 32 RBI and 32 runs scored. She’s also thrown out 53 percent of would-be base stealers. Lewis tops the squad with a .477 average, 62 hits, a CCCAA-best 25 doubles, 39 RBI, 47 runs scored and .800 slugging percentage.

Hurler Emily Mitchell and infielder Jamie Romero keyed Feather River a to a 33-7-1 mark, Golden Valley Conference title and a No. 5 state ranking. Mitchell led the state with 30 wins and was second with 253 strikeouts. She posted a 1.71 ERA in 237.1 innings of work. Romero hit .424 with a team-high 56 hits,19 doubles and 42 RBI. She scored 38 times and recorded a .466 on-base percentage.

Outfield Allie Stines and utility player Lauren Quirk represented San Mateo, who collected a 37 wins and Coast-North Conference title. The duo helped the Bulldogs earn the No. 1 ranking in the 3CFCA rankings. Stines hit .455, leading the squad with 60 hits, 46 runs and a .674 slugging percentage. Quirk posted a team-best .476 average, 16 doubles, 25 walks and .559 on-base percentage.

Decker, a sophomore, hit .404 with 15 doubles, three triples, a homer, 27 RBI and 22 runs scored. Grubert, an outfielder, led the CCCAA with 54 stolen bases and is No. 1 on her squad with 54 hits, a .415 average, 36 runs and a .449 on-base percentage.

The remaining All-America infielders were North Cosumnes River’s Korina Krueg, Fresno City’s Alyssa Caballero and Porterville’s Chelsea Ramos, while Danielle Chatman of College of the Canyons, McCollum and Mt. San Antonio’s Carissa Felix represented the South Region.

Krueg hit a team-high .449, leading the Hawks with 62 hits, 11 doubles, 31 RBI and 14 stolen bases. Caballero posts team-bests in batting average (.504), hits (64), doubles (14), home runs (8), RBI (48), on-base percentage (.526) and slugging (.850). Ramos leads the state with a .630 on-base percentage and is third with a .564 batting average, seven triples and 1.051 slugging percentage. Chatman hits .444 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs, 52 RBI, .520 on-base percentage and .897 slugging percentage, all team bests. McCollum, a two-time All-American, is ranked third in the state with seven triples and fourth with 53 runs scored. She is hitting .433 with 61 hits, 14 doubles, 35 RBI and just one strikeout in 162 plate appearances. Felix, who ranks eighth in the CCCAA with 17 doubles, leads her squad with a .413 average, 52 hits and 37 runs scored.

McKenna Anderson of Sierra from the North and East Los Angeles’ Monet Manning and Santiago Canyon College’s Rylie Seip from the South round out the outfielders.

Anderson is tops on the team with a .416 average, 52 hits and 25 stolen bases. Manning ranks sixth in the state with a .517 batting average and seventh with a .925 slugging percentage. She also has recorded 11 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs and 39 RBI. In Seip’s rookie season with the Hawks, she ranks in the state’s top 10 in home runs (8th / 12), runs (3rd / 54), hits (10th / 62), stolen bases (6th / 30) and total bases (6th /118).
